This is the best concoction I have ever concocted!
If you ate this every day, you would probably live to be 150.

For Dan Huse

Jun. 3rd, 2009 | 02:18 pm

Dan Huse told me to come back, so I'm back. I stopped writing for a number of reasons:
1. Tamra defected
2. work increased
3. the internet burns retinas
4. anonymous stalker-lurker non-commenters
5. too much stuff to catch up on
6. can't write about 90% of my life (work stuff) due to NDA's

Here's some cool events that happened since the last entry:
- Stayed at a beach house in Cambria for our anniversary. Our bed was in a glass room overlooking the water, as close as we could possibly be without getting our eyes wet. We kayaked, mountain biked, hung out with thousands of elephant seals, and enjoyed being in one of the most beautiful places in California. (That punctuation was for you, Tamra.)
- We finally got a kitten! His name is "Company", but I call him "Co" for short. He's a wee spritely little bugger, grey with stripes. Our other cat Oliver has gotten pretty fat lately because of his steady diet of kitten food and jealousy. We had to wait a month for him, and camp out in Burbank at 7 AM. At least Tamra was able to finally try Corner Cottage breakfast burritos, and we met some VERY interesting people who were also there waiting for pets, most notably this guy who carves naked ladies and pot leaves onto bulletproof plexi-glass and then paints it with nail polish.

Here's my opinions on some movies. Feel free to agree with me. Only accptance will be tolerated in all comments.
UP!: 10/10 A far as kid's movies go, this is both the funniest AND the most emotional.
Star Trek: 10/10 the most fun I have ever had watching a movie.
Terminator Salvation: 9.5/10 What a great beard movie. What's the deal with everyone hating this?

And here's a really cool cinematic for THE BEATLES ROCK BAND:

4 min entry

Mar. 19th, 2009 | 06:15 pm
music: yyy it's blitz deluxe

I have 4 minutes to do this, so here goes:

1. The new Yeah Yeah Yeah's is out now, 15 songs! I have been waiting forever for this and am so excited!

2. Clarity was supreme, JEW pulled it off and sounded as awesome as the album. They even broke out a few extra instruments and played the WHOLE 15 minute jam of "Goodbye Sky Harbor" complete with several looped vocal tracks.

- Steve Miholovits was going CRAZY and jumping out of his seat. The guy in front of him was a little bit annoyed because Steve kept bouncing in his space. The guy in front of him also turned out to be one of my main clients from work.....

- Saw the guy who recorded and ruined the In Stereo album. I wanted to punch him. Or say hi.

- Saw my niece Rachel in the VIP pit, took a pic of her and texted it to her. It freaked her out nicely (she didn't know we were going to be there).

- We almost got in a fight with two hoochie momma's who forcibly stole Steve and Jennifer's seats.

3. Get Up Kids reunion show soon w/ Omar. Heck yeah.

4. In a few months going to see DEF LEPPARD, POISON and CHEAP TRICK with friends from work. Heck yeah.

5.  Chris Woodhead is playing at SXSW right now with his new band!

6.  It's getting warmer. Commencing deactivation of hibernation mode. Heck yeah!

Clarity

Mar. 4th, 2009 | 06:09 pm

My little brother went bowling with Vanilla Ice. Freakin Josh Jones.

JEW Clarity concert tomorrow. Hope it doesn't suck.

Spent Saturday with my friend Chris Reynolds and his three awesome kids. They found a black widow in our house, we went hiking in nuclear Rocketdyne waste and then we ate Garlic Jim's pizza and played Rock Band at extremely high volumes.

Excited for WATCHMEN this weekend, and hopefully some music.

On Sunday I said goodbye to Sweet Mike for a while and then played with a little dog and two huge dogs (who were trying to eat the little dog). Sweet Mike is moving to San Diego.

Tamra has no Iron. She wasn't even allowed to donate blood! I always thought Tamra was pretty metal, but I guess not.

My friend Andre at work got me the craziest Japanese import PS3 game, DEMON'S SOULS. It's so hard that the tutorial took about 6 hours and hundreds of deaths to beat, but it's rad nonetheless.

Ultimate Sub

Feb. 27th, 2009 | 01:05 pm

The ultimate Subway sub:

Honey Oat Bread (Toasted)
Pepper Jack Cheese
Tomatoes
Spinach
Pepper
Parmesan Cheese
Oil & Vinegar
Cilantro

NOTE: The sweet onion dressing is also really good, but makes your hands stinky.

Rural Juror

Feb. 26th, 2009 | 11:06 am

Last night: (As you imagine this keep in mind that the cop was ultra serious, almost yelling.)

POLICEMAN: "Do you know why we pulled you over?"
ME: "Yes. I was speeding. Sorry"
POLICEMAN: "Why were you speeding?"
ME: (with face in hand) "....I was heading over to Gamestop to get a new game that just came out today."
POLICEMAN: "What game?"
ME: (long pause) "...Puzzle Quest Galactrix." (At this point I slap my forehead with embarrassment)
POLICEMAN: "...."
ME: "Yes, I am a huge nerd."
POLICEMAN: "Why didn't you take the last exit (Tapo)?"
ME: "Because I was really into this awesome song that was on and missed it..." (Brokedown Palace)
POLICEMAN: "Do I need to give you a citation to slow you down?"
ME: "No, I'll slow down. Sorry."
POLICEMAN: "Slow down"

Jimmy +Lynnette

Feb. 17th, 2009 | 10:41 am
music: not Animal Collective

Jimmy and Lynnette got engaged in a photo booth (in San Francisco!) They won't show you the pictures, though. We had an extremely high attendance dinner last night at Chi-Chi's to celebrate. Everyone is mega excited. Jimmy and Lynnette go together like tomatoes and pasta, an obvious and perfect combination.

Lynnette's name is spelled "Lynnette" and not "Lynette".

Tamra and I had a great Valentine's day, and she made MOLE. Not mole that lives underground, Mexican mole' that has chocolate in it!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mole_(sauce)

Not to be outdone by Tamra, I also memorized the NATO phonetic alphabet. What took her like 20 minutes took me about 3 hours.....
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NATO_phonetic_alphabet

My brothers (including brother in-law) and I have been playing this stupid text-based game on Facebook called Mob Wars. Here is a rap I wrote for them:
Brothers and mobsters, listen to me
I'm talking to you illegally
My Mob Wars rap will make you see
I'm as deadly as Capone with a tommy G
When I mob it up, I'm in a good mood
Cause everybody here knows I'm merciless and crude
When I take out a hit, I feel inspired
And I listen to the Mobbin Tabernacle Choir

Drinking a ton of Ruby Red Chai from Trader Joe's makes you smell good.

Here's a few semi recent albums:
DEERHUNTER - "Microcastle"
The singer of this band is the SKINNIEST GUY I HAVE EVER SEEN. Seriously look him up, I'm talking concentration camp skinny. The music is really good despite a few filler songs, very 90's Pavement Radiohead Nada Surfy.

FOALS - "Antidotes"
Dancy fingertappy catchy songs, vocals can be a little bit too much at times but it's worth a listen. Great production.

PAINT IT BLACK - "New Lexicon"
Best hardcore I've heard in a long time, feels old school and sincere. It's really hard to get into most new hardcore these days, so I was really excited about this.

ANIMAL COLLECTIVE - "Merriweather Post Pavilion"
OK, but pretty much the most overrated and hyped up piece of mediocrity ever. I really can't figure out why THIS is what the media decided to put on a pedestal and worship. It's worth listening to, but the production is muddy and horrible.... there must be another factor besides just the music that made them this famous. Were they on some TV show or is one of the guys married to a fashion designer or something? Maybe it was the butt kissing review in freaking NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC?

(FEMALE) celebrity crushes

Feb. 13th, 2009 | 10:50 am

Tamra and Brenna are pressuring me to list my celebrity crushes:

Tamra: "I would be interested in seeing what girls and guys you think are attractive. You'd probably just put up Juliette Lewis and Matt Damon and Ben Afleck."

Brenna: "I tag you to list your celebrity crushes. if you don't, a black cat will cross your path. and when i say black cat i don't mean oliver or these (http://www.mischiefpr.com/home/#/news/2009/02/11/black-cat-vertising/) fear 2 cats."

Well... I don't currently have crushes on any celebrities due to their tendency towards being total wankers, but here are some old crushes I used to have (this will probably be more embarrassing for Tamra than for me):

1. The girl from "MY GIRL"
NOTE: Unlike Macaulay Culkin, I later went through puberty and this crush was no more.
NOTE: This movie made me cry like a little girl.

2. WINNIE COOPER (not Fred Savage). Also ended pre pubeses.

3. PRINCESS LEIA. For a kid, this was a lot of nakedness to be seeing. That's all that mattered back then.

4. BJORK. I was obsessed with her for a long time as a teenager and had collages of her all over my walls and above my bed. She's still rad, but kind of old.

5. NATALIE PORTMAN. She was pretty good lookin', but then she buzzed her hair and looked EXACTLY like a little boy. For some reason that made me think that she's not so good lookin', just a little boy face with pretty hair and makeup. I can't get over that.

6. VERONICA "RONNIE" BENNETT (SPECTRE) Singer for the Ronettes, married that guy Phil Spectre who ruined a Beatles album, has hair like Robert Smith and kills people... anyways she was super good looking back in the day.

7.AUDREY TAUTOU. (Amelie) - The prettiest modern celebrity despite the fact that Da Vinci code was the worst movie ever.
NOTE: For some reason, Tamra looks like a french chick to me, mixed with a really hot gypsy chick.

8. ALICIA KEYES. Pretty rad. Jimmy actually got me into her.

9. ASHLEE SIMPSON. Pre nose job Ashlee Simpson was hot, now she looks stupid. Sometimes she has Tamra hair, which I like. I'm going to get so much crap for putting her on this...

10. ANNE HATHAWAY. At worked we worked on "The Devil Wears Prada" for a while and I though she was classy looking. Apparently, she's not really that classy...

11. LAURYN HILL. Another one from when I was a teenager, thought she was perfect looking even though she hates white people. Whoops, that's not true: http://www.snopes.com/quotes/lauryn.asp

12. AUDREY HEPBURN. The hottest, second only to Tamra.

13. MELONIE DIAZ. This girl was in some movie we were working on called "Nothing Like the Holidays" and I had to look at her all the time, otherwise I would have no idea who this was. I guess she's pretty cute. She was also in "Be Kind Rewind".

14. EMMY ROSSUM. Another one from work, "Poseidon" and another movie we are working on right now... For some reason she reminds me of Lynette, but that's not really why she's on here. That would be weird. She does get minus points though for being way, way too pouty.
UPDATE: I just googled her and she looks not too great and super strange in a bunch of pictures, but in the movies she looks really good.

15. AUDREY TAUTOU posing as AUDREY HEPBURN. Whoah.

16. Another random one of Audrey Tautou to make the collage symmetrical.

17. There was someone else I was going to put on here, but I would be guaranteed endless tons of crap from everyone I know if I did. Can you guess who? If you do I will admit it.

Motivated

Feb. 12th, 2009 | 05:45 pm

Because I never really write anything personal on here and pretty much act as a portal for digg.com, I have recently been contemplating deleting this and moving on. HOWEVER, I am motivated by the recent blogs of my friends to continue writing in order to provide entertainment for myself and others during NON work hours.

Especially interesting are the recent posts by Tamra, Jen and Brenna, where they list the embarassing celebrity crushes that they have. We learn that:
1. Tamra likes girls as much as she likes guys
2. Brenna likes guys who look like they do hard drugs
3. Jen likes Paul Newman

Tomorrow there will be an interesting non-spam update. Please forgive my laziness.

The curse of PATRICIA AVE (ctd.)

Once again, something horrible happened on Patricia Ave:

SIMI VALLEY TODDLER DIES IN DRIVEWAY ACCIDENT

------------------

Had a splendid weekend.
Went mountain biking with Chris Reynolds and the Savage girls. Chris and I have been friends for 27 years.
Indian food TWO DAYS IN A ROW. Went for Justin's b-day.
Visited Grandma for Bday, heard story about my dad being shot in the eye with a nail gun AND NOT CRYING. Apparently, that's what saved his vision.
Unfortunately, missed Derek's art show due to G-ma's b-day.. Looks like it was huge.
Taught 12 rowdy 6-7 year old kids. Played "hang spider" because "hangman" is pretty violent if you think about it.
Tamra and I played "Puzzle Quest" extensively. I finished "Brisingr" and started reading "The Stranger" by Albert Camus. The Cure song "Killing an Arab" inspired me to read it. So far it reminds me of Brad's blog.
Yesterday was Omar's b-day. Lots of good friends showed up and we ate DELICIOUS Cuban rice and snacks. We also had some very entertaining conversations, but unfortunately did not play poker or leg-wrestle.

2008 Music

Dec. 30th, 2008 | 03:14 pm

I have been really lazy with music lately, only listening to new stuff that is thrown at me at work. It's too easy to listen to the same old familiar stuff, and a lot of new music is so incredibly boring that it is hard to sift through all the caca to find the few good albums, but they are out there! Here is a GREAT compilation of critic top 10 lists etc in one easy to navigate list. It's research time!
